About
Our Mission
At LIVESNG, we work to help survivors of sexual and violent abuse access justice. We connect people affected by sexual assault, sexual harassment, rape, and domestic violence with legal professionals who can provide informed, compassionate counsel.
Why This Matters
Across the world, only about 3 in every 1,000 sexual assaults result in a conviction—a rate of just 0.3%. In Nigeria, the rate is believed to be even lower.
Survivors often face the overwhelming burden of proving what happened to them within a justice system that can be difficult to navigate. The path to justice is often opaque, fragmented, and intimidating—especially for people without legal knowledge, connections, or financial resources. Many survivors do not have ready access to competent legal representation or cannot afford it. Without the right support, pursuing justice can feel impossible.
LIVESNG exists to help remove that barrier. We are building a public directory of lawyers and law firms across Nigeria with experience handling cases of sexual assault and abuse, and who are willing to be more accessible to survivors seeking legal help.
Everyone deserves a fair chance to be heard, protected, and supported in pursuing justice.
How we verify a lawyer
- Enrolment. We verify every lawyer's enrolment number (Supreme Court Number) against the Nigerian Bar Association's (NBA) roll before their profile is published.
- Standing. We confirm the lawyer is in good standing with the Bar and not subject to any disciplinary finding we can see.
- Removal. If we get a credible complaint, we will remove the lawyer's profile while we look into it. Email us at info@livesng.org if you have a complaint.
Verification means we confirmed identity and enrolment. We do not endorse the quality of anyone’s work, and it is not a guarantee of any outcome.
What we don't do
- We do not take reports. We are not a reporting channel and we are not a crisis service. The support services page lists organisations that are.
- We do not handle money. No fees, no deposits, no commission, no escrow. Ever.
- We do not sell or share data. We count searches and profile views so we know which states and practice areas the directory is failing to cover. Those metrics exist to fix gaps and improve our coverage. The privacy page sets out exactly what is kept.
- We do not give legal advice. Nothing on this site is advice. Only a lawyer you instruct can advise you.
